Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored a greasy one to tie it up at 2-2 in the third.

Then Artturi Lehkonen was robbed of the lead goal by a horrible embellishment call.

But Shea Weber put the Canadiens ahead. Then Paul Byron capped a superb play with his linemates to make it 4-2, and Jonathan Drouin added an empty netter.

Ottawa needed nine minutes to get their first second-period shot on goal. It went in, as Mikkel Boedker beat Carey Price from the slot.

Bell Centre first-period jubilation lasted 20 seconds. Matthew Peca, who’s on fire, opened the scoring at 3:39. Then Colin White evened it up at 3:59. Canadiens protested, suggesting interference on Carey Price – to no avail.

Shots were an absurd 47-16 for the team that won
